Everyone chooses for different reasons. Just a few of the many reasons:

• The community (we) will happily help you level up, and teach you tricks and tips.
• We often help upgrade and defend each other's portals, and create "farms," which are clusters of high-level portals that are easily hacked quickly, in order to gather gear. It takes 8 people to make a lvl 8 portal.
• Many months in the year we have #IFS, Ingress First Saturday, where lots of players from both sides gather at a park or other portal-dense location for a little competitive fun.
• Rural agents often have a tough time getting enough good gear. Farmers with access to gear sources give away gear all the time, and lots of it goes to rural agents.
• Getting together with other agents at a venue with a few portals, hacking and having a coffee, beer or milkshake.
• Working together on large scale ops, such as constructing BAFs (Big A** Fields) over neighhborhoods, cities, the entire state, and sometimes over continents and oceans.

Of course you can! The game lends itself to solo- or group-play. There are players who interact solely through the game and social media, and there are agents who often meet up for small or large social gatherings.

If you do choose to play alone, it's still a good idea to at least give the MN RES your contact information {in game name is often plenty} so we can let you know if we're going to be doing a big operation in your area that might affect your play.

We are more than happy to help visitors find rich farming grounds, fun missions, and lots of uniques.

We often trade portal keys with visitors, for making BAFs. Even if you live thousands of miles away.

We have strong relationships with many Ingress communities around the world. This just makes the Resistance stronger globally, and is great networking and fun!

Niantic, the company that created Ingress, used to be a subsidiary of Google.

We chose to integrate our website with their login since every Ingress player has a Google profile already and we didn't want you to have to create yet another password. That means our login system requires minimal access to your Google profile. You're probably familiar with using your Facebook or Twitter account to log in to other websites. It's just like that. We only use it for login purposes.

At registration time we also ask your current level and areas of play which helps us direct you to relevant resources.

Many of us are parents, and all of us are concerned about the safety of minors on the internet, and out in the world. There are plenty of minors in the community, we just need to take special care in adding you.
